What happened at Christmas? God sent Jesus to earth as a baby for us. Now on this ‘Christmas backwards’ day, God takes Jesus back to heaven from earth as a resurrected man. It’s proper name is Ascension Day.

Ascension Day It marks an important moment. It is the end of Jesus’ ministry on earth and it prepares the way for the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

Listen to the story of Ascension day which comes at the beginning of the book of Acts in the Bible (Acts 1: 3 -11). After his death, Jesus showed himself to the disciples and proved in many ways that he was alive. The disciples saw Jesus during the 40 days after he was raised from death. He spoke to them about the kingdom of God. Once when he was eating with them, he told them not to leave Jerusalem. He said, “The Father has made you a promise which I told you about before. Wait here to receive this promise. ” “The Holy Spirit will come to you. You will be my witnesses—in Jerusalem and in every part of the world. ” After he said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up. A cloud him from their sight. As he was going, they were looking into the sky. Suddenly, two men wearing white clothes stood beside them. They said, “Men of Galilee, why are you standing here looking into the sky? You saw Jesus taken away from you into heaven. ” “He will come back in the same way you saw him go into heaven. ” Based on Acts 1: 3 -11
