Communication of leaders • Why = why we do what we do (purpose, beliefs) Why • How = how we do what we do (process, steps, etc. ) How What • What = what we do (results)

Benefits of starting with “why” People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it. ü Employees are more productive when working for an organization with the same beliefs rather than just working for the paycheck üPeople will support and follow those who have similar beliefs. • Brain biology – part of our brain that controls decisions and behaviors does not have ability to use language. Aka -“Gut feelings” • Decisions and behaviors can be explained logically with words using other parts of the brain. üExplain the “why” and get more people on your side! • Only a small % of people are risk takers. They will be the first to try something. • Majority of people are hesitant to try something new without seeing its effectiveness first • Communicating “why” will bring more supporters without them having to observe first

Leader vs. those who lead Leader = position of power and able to influence others. Those who lead = Inspire and motivate.
