LET’S RECAPITULATE CARDINAL NUMBERS A Cardinal number answers the question ‘ how many’. It says how many of something is there. Example one, two, three, four etc. There are 5 pencils

ORDINAL NUMBERS An Ordinal number tells us the position of something. For example 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd, 4 th etc. The 2 nd student is a girl The 3 rd boy has black hair. The 1 st boy has a bag.

So, we can remember that: Cardinal says Counting Ordinal says Order Most Ordinal numbers end with ‘th’ Example – 4 th , 5 th, 6 th, 7 th. . So on However we write ‘st’ for 1 st we write ‘nd’ for 2 nd we write ‘rd’ for 3 rd
