Ramesh Mishra �Mishra 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. has suggested five approaches namely Welfare as citizenship Welfare as Social Reform Convergence theory of technological determinism the functional view of welfare the Marxist view of welfare development.
Pat Young �Pat young has given four approaches explaining the role of the state in the welfare development. Micheal Sullivan �Sullivan has coined four models namely 1. the reformist approach to state welfare development. It is closer to that of Mishra’s approach of social reform 2. the Industrial state and state social welfare development is identical with convergence model 3. the Capitalist state and welfare development and 4. the ‘radical right’ approach to welfare development.
�We have a pick-n-mix approach of Mishra’s and Sullivan’s approaches and have discussed the Islamic approach, the reformist approach, the citizenship approach, the Convergence approach, the Capitalist, and Marxist approaches to welfare development which seems to be relevant to the welfare development in Pakistan.
