WHAT ANOREXIA IS Anorexia is a disconfort where the person involved refuse to eat for fear of gaining weight • ANOREXIA NERVOSA
CAUSES SOCIAL CAUSES • a family member who suffers, or has suffered, an eating disorder • difficulty in comunication • a negative relationship with the parents ORGANIC CAUSES • malfanction of the hormone ghrelin that has the role to stimolate the appetite
CONSEGUENCES • decrease of bone density that leads to osteoporosis • decrease the ability of concentration • decrease of the leukocytes in the blood • tooth decay
PSYCHIATRIC CONSEGUENCES • DEPRESSION affects up to 80% of the population suffering from anorexia • ANXIETY is a feeling of intense worry or fear, associated with a lack of spirit of adaptation
ELIMINATE THE FOOD Patients who suffer from anorexia try to eliminate the food also making use of: • enemas • diuretics • laxatives • retching
• NUTRITIONAL THERAPY It is necessary to introduce in the body of 1500 -1800 kcal per day • PSYCHOLOGICAL THERAPY has the role to investigate and elaborate the emotional and relational conflicts that result in food waste. • PHARMACOLOGICAL THERAPY
