Welcome and Introductions

Kitsap Community Health Priorities (KCHP) brings diverse community sectors together in a collaborative process to improve community health in Kitsap County. KCHP Purpose and Goals GOALS Improve health and well-being status and opportunities for all Improve collaboration and planning among community agencies Increase public awareness of and engagement around improving health and well-being Increase access to and use of data

Today we will narrow our focus to the indicators with highest (worst) rankings derived from quantitative and qualitative findings Framing Group decision Do we focus on: Top 5 (Wellbeing, Substance Use, Obesity/Nutrition/Physical Activity, Health Care Access, Housing) OR Whole list

Identify several priorities for collective community action over the next 3 -5 years Today’s Goal and Guidelines Selected priorities will need community sponsors to convene partners to carry out deeper assessment and action with a focus on assets (in addition to problems), root causes (in addition to symptoms), and disproportionately affected populations Guidelines Be present Try on new ideas and perspectives It’s ok to disagree Step up…step back Check out assumptions Our work today is a start Guidelines source: Adapted from Laurin Mayeno and Elena Featherston, 2006, Adapted from VISIONS Inc.

1. Review the indicator handout to assess top scoring indicators Step 1. Individual Priority Proposals 15 minutes 2. Consider individual indicators as well as groups of interrelated indicators. 3. Assess IMPACT Review # residents affected What would be most impactful to the community Consider what is most pressing to do now (next few years) rather than later 4. Assess FEASIBILITY What would be feasible to implement in the short term and have measurable results within the next few years 5. Write up to 3 proposed priorities (one per sticky note) 6. WHEN ASKED, place your stickies onto the poster where you feel they best fit

Step 2. Proposed Priority Grouping 15 minutes Divide up so there are groups clustered around each poster Work together to organize the stickies into like groupings Write a statement to describe each grouping For stickies that are do not fit into groupings, might they belong to another poster? If not, set aside. Each poster will read the grouping statements out loud
