Things to remember: Speech is a competition of performance and impression. You are dressed

Things to remember: Speech is a competition of performance and impression. You are dressed in business formal attire. Act accordingly. A speech competition is not a basketball game. When you are in a round, do not do anything that might distract from another’s performance: ◦ Keep your hands off of waterbottles, papers, clothing, etc. ◦ Watch the pieces in your round. Do not use the time to read, look over your piece, study your shoes, the ceiling, or anything other than the speaker’s face. ◦ Draw categories will stay to watch the other competitors who come after them in the round, unless the room does not accommodate them. ◦ Only excuse yourself if there’s an absolute
