Iowa Quality Preschool Program Standards (IQPPS): Foundations MONITORING AND RESOURCES May 2017
Monitoring ●Iowa’s school districts and their community partners operating Statewide Voluntary Preschool Programs (SWVPP) and preschool classrooms providing early childhood special education (ECSE) instructional services are required to demonstrate that the programs meet the IQPPS, HSPPS, or maintain NAEYC accreditation requirements. ●Annual reporting requirements for the SWVPP and classrooms providing ECSE include reporting the program standard being followed.
Monitoring ● The school year following the approval to participate in the SWVPP, DE Early Childhood Consultants conduct an on-site visit to verify the SWVPP and preschool classrooms providing ECSE services are meeting the IQPPS and criteria. ○ Iowa’s school districts and their community partners are encouraged to utilize the IQPPS documents and resources on the Early Childhood Standards webpage to prepare for on-site visits. These documents may also be used to engage in a continuous improvement process to design and support the understanding of current practices, strengths, and challenges in implementing the standards and criteria. ● After an on-site visit, IQPPS monitoring will continue through an annual, early childhood desk audit of selected criteria. The IQPPS portion of the Early Childhood Desk Audit will be piloted during the 2017 -2018 school year. See the Differentiated Accountability webpage for more information.
