Paper One (Composition) Weighting : 26% Time Allowed : 1 hour 10 minutes

Exam Format Write a piece of composition in about 300 words.

Types of Writing Topics 1. Letter : - personal - formal (letter of complaint, letter to the editor, etc) 2. Argumentative 3. Imaginative 4. Narrative

Paper Two (Reading Comprehension & Usage) Weighting : 24% Time Allowed : 1 hour 30 minutes

Exam Format I: Reading Comprehension Read 2 pieces of comprehension passages and attempt 12 -15 MC questions for each piece. Each question carries 2 marks.

II: Usage -Open Cloze -Closed Cloze -Matching (paragraph and/or sentence) -Proof-reading -Re-writing

Paper Three (Listening , Reading & Writing) Weighting : 32% Time Allowed : 1 hour 50 minutes

Exam Format I: Listening (about 50 mins) A. Picture-reading MC questions B. Picture or Map-reading/filling C. Telephone message-taking D. Form-filling

II: Reading & Writing (1 hour) -Listen to the instructions -Read the data-file -Complete 3 -4 tasks

Paper Four (Oral) Weighting : 18% Time Allowed : 18 minutes

Exam Format I: Role Play (10 mins) Preparation Time : 6 mins A. Interview Examiner 1 (ask 6 questions) B. Report the answers to Examiner 2 (A+B : within 4 mins)

II: Group Discussion (8 minutes) Preparation Time : 2 mins Discuss the assigned topic with 3 other candiates. (6 minutes)
