Arrivaland Dismissal v School begins at 7: 45 and ends at 2: 55. v Students may enter the building at 7: 30. v Beginning on the third day of school Kindergarten students will go to the gym until 7: 40. Their teachers will pick them up and take them to their classroom. v At dismissal, two Kindergarten teachers will escort each carpool group (purple or silver) to their dismissal area. 4

Lunch v Evans lunch time is an important part of your child’s learning experience. Students practice and develop social skills and strengthen friendships as they eat lunch with their classmates. You are welcome to come eat lunch with your child. Although, we encourage you to reserve your visits for special days or occasions. v The Allen ISD website posts the lunch menus. v Please send a snack and a water bottle with 5 your child each day.

Lunch v Practice lunch codes – Student Nutrition will mail you a packet in early August containing your child’s lunch code. This code is very important because your child will also use it to access school computers and check out library books. – When sending checks to the school for your student’s lunch account (or any other occasion) please make sure the check includes name, address, telephone number and driver’s license number with state of issue. v Tips for helping your child be successful: – Opening containers (i. e. milk, juice, yogurt, fruit cups) – Table manners (i. e. staying in your seat, using inside voices, raising your hand if you need help) 6

Playground v Please review playground rules with your child: -Keep hands and feet to yourself -Use kind words and good manners -Climb the stairs, slide down the slide -Line up as soon as the whistle blows v Please make sure your child has: -Labeled Jackets -Tennis Shoes -Seasonal change of clothes 7

Kindergarten will be learning about artists, history and cultures. We will be exploring and creating works of art using variety or media including: Paint Clay Drawing Cutting Gluing Printmaking ART 11

Field Trips v Kindergarten goes on several field trips. Prior notification will be sent to parents. v Students will ride on the school buses. v Parents who wish to join the classes as a chaperone must complete the Volunteer Registration Application and be on the approved volunteer list prior to the trip. 12

Spirit Wear v Our tradition at Mary Evans is to wear an Evans spirit wear shirt on Monday, our class t-shirt on Wednesdays, and an Allen Eagle shirt on Fridays. v PTA representatives will have our Evans spirit wear available at Meet the Teacher Night for you to purchase for your child. It is also available to order online. v Your child’s teacher will send home a class shirt order form in the fall. We wear these shirts on all field trips. 13

Volunteers v. Prior to volunteering in any capacity, you must complete the Volunteer Registration Application after July 1, 2019. v. The application can be found by visiting the Allen ISD website and going to Quick Links. v. Sign-ups for a variety of volunteer opportunities will be available at Meet the Teacher Night. 14

Toileting Expectations v Your child needs to be toilet trained before starting Kindergarten, including bowel movements and independent wiping. v School staff cannot directly assist students with toileting. v Students should also be able to dress and undress themselves. v Every kindergartener needs to have a change of clothes in their back pack. 15

Physical Activity & Safety v Athletic shoes are needed for PE 3 times a week. Closed toed shoes are preferred every day for school. Flip flops are unreliable. v Recess-Temperature, heat index, and air quality are all taken into consideration for outdoor play. Send your students prepared to participate in recess everyday. v Activity Restrictions-Without a note, students will be expected to participate in PE & recess. 16

Medication v Please bring emergency medication to the clinic for health conditions that need them. v All medication, including OTCs, needs to be brought in by the parent and will be kept in the clinic. v Medication must be in the original container, properly labeled, and provided with written request. v If at all possible, medication should be scheduled for administration at home. 17

Family Access v. Log-In and password will be sent to you in August. You will receive instructions to complete back-to-school forms and check student information In Family Access. v. There is a link to Family Access on the Evans home page. 18

Student. Information v Check that all phone numbers are upto-date. Data is used by nurse, teachers, and office. Address changes require proof of residency documents turned in at office. v Emergency Contacts –It is important to list all persons who will be picking up your student and a contact number for them. Please be sure to make the list as complete as possible from the beginning of year. 19

Attendance Information v Student Handbook – Please read attendance pages carefully. A link is provided in the on-line back-to-school forms in August. v Students need to be in their homeroom, ready to learn at 7: 45 each school day. v Call the absence line (972 -236 -0600, ext. 3373) if student will be late or absent. You may also e-mail the teacher. 20

Absence Notes v. Note from a doctorif part of the school day is missed due to an appointment. v. Note from a parent if the whole day is missed due to illness or other. v. Check doctor notes to be sure days student has been absent are listed. If not, supplement with parent note. 21
