Interrelated Special Education Program An Interrelated Special Education Program serves special education students with mild disabilities which can include Specific Learning Disabilities, Emotional Behavior Disorders and Mild Intellectual Disabilities. Interrelated Special Education Teachers service students in a Interrelated Special Education Classroom and/or General Education Classroom.

What Does Inclusion Mean? • All staff in a school being responsible for all students. • Students learning side by side even though they have different educational goals. • Providing as many special education services as possible within the structure of the general education classroom.

Goal: Reach the 90/80 Standard

What is the 90/80 Standard? The U. S. Department of Education states that the standard for all school systems regarding students with disabilities is 90% of students with disabilities will be educated in the general education classroom for a minimum of 80% of the school day. Georgia school systems are currently asked to prepare an action plan to address “increasing the time in the general education setting” for students with disabilities. This is in response to the acceptable standard set by The United States, Department of Education.
