Transcripts Each student should receive a transcript in Advisement today. If you did not receive a transcript, please ask your counselor. If you are new to the school, your records may not have been received by the school yet and you will be able to participate in your transcript audit in January.
How to Read PCSD Transcripts The transcript begins with Freshmen year courses. If you took high school courses in middle school, those will be the first listed. The semester grade is posted under “Mark” “Weight” indicates how much the course was worth in terms of credits “Credit” shows the credit earned If the class was passed, the Credit number should match the number indicated under Weight If the class was failed, the Credit will be recorded as a zero.
Why Are There So Many GPAs and What Do They Mean? Weighted GPA on the 100 point scale – This is the average of all grades on the transcript. This includes the added weight from Honors (5 points and AP courses (10 points). This GPA is used to determine Class Rank and Honors Graduates (must be 89. 5). Often used for college admissions Unweighted GPA on the 100 point scale The average of all grades on the transcript for all years and does not include Honors and AP weight. Also used for college admissions
GPAs Continued … Weighted GPA on the 4 point scale – This is the average of all grades on the transcript. This includes the added weight from Honors (5 points and AP courses (10 points). Unweighted GPA on the 4 point scale The average of all grades on the transcript for all years and does not include Honors and AP weight. Also used for college admissions (if college specifically asks for the unweighted GPA) How the 4. 0 Scale is calculated – A (90 -100+) = 4 The Paulding 4. 0 GPA IS NOT the HOPE GPA B (80 – 89) = 3 C (70 -79) = 2 F (69 and below) = 0
HOPE GPA and Ga. Futures HOPE GPA GSFC determines the HOPE GPA by averaging only a student’s core classes and academic electives. PE, CTAE and Fine Arts courses are not included in this calculation. GAFUTURES Every student must create an account on GAFutures Students will use this website to send transcripts to in-state colleges (dual enrollment or for college admission post high school). The HOPE GPA determines eligibility for the HOPE scholarship. Complete college applications Can only be found on www. GAFUTURES. org. Receive the HOPE Scholarship Monitory rigor requirements (both classes need 4 rigorous courses to qualify for HOPE) Middle School Courses do not count towards the HOPE GPA.
STUDENTS MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF THE FOLLOWING NUMBER OF CREDITS TO BE PROMOTED: Promotion • From 9 th to 10 th grade-5 credits • From 10 th to 11 th grade-11 credits • From 11 th to 12 th grade – 17 credits
Today’s Activity – Checking your progress! Check off your earned credits on your transcript audit sheet. Example: If you passed 9 th Literature, put a check mark next to 9 th Literature on your audit sheet. Check off all credits you have earned to see where you are and where you need to go. What are CTAE credits? Any career class you’ve taken! What if you have more than 3 CTAE/Fine Arts/World Language Credits? Anything more rolls over into your electives category!
Transcripts are yours to keep! Please turn your Audit sheets back in to your Adviser. You will audit your transcript again next semester. Keep working hard to earn your credits this year!
