Maths answers from yesterday: Pages 40 and 41 1. From left to right: triangle, pentagon, circle, octagon 2. The first, fourth and fifth objects 3. There are 3 squares and 4 rectangles 4. Pentagon- 5; triangle-3; hexagon-6; square-4 5. There should be four shapes crossed out 6. The shapes should be divided into two symmetrical halves Challenge Shape A has 6 sides and 6 vertices; shape B has 4 sides and 4 vertices; shape C has eight 8 sides and 8 vertices.
Maths Today we are going to look at 3 D shapes.
How many faces can you see? How many faces are hidden? Can you think of another shape that has six faces? Let’s look at the answers and how you could have worked them out on the next slide…
• Is the cat’s first comment always true? Do you know of any other shapes that have rectangular faces ? • How did you make sure that you counted all the faces correctly?
Which real life examples of a square-based pyramid can you think of to help you answer this question? I can think of a tent or the roof of a house.
