Friday 22 nd May These are trickier calligrams. Look at all the different words, the size of the letters, the shape of the letters. Altogether it makes a calligram. The ant has not been drawn but created out of ‘ant’ related vocabulary. Spelling This week we are practising some of the common exception words for Year 2. Keep going.

Shall we try to make our own calligram by hand? Often in class we find ‘canny’ ways of doing things. So, this is my way of creating a calligram by hand. Look in the files for ‘Yacht Calligram’. Friday 22 nd May You will need: Yacht page Blank piece of paper Yacht calligram vocabulary Pencils 1. 2. 3. 4. Print out the blank yacht page. Place the blank sheet of page over the top of the yacht page. You may want to fix this with a paper fastener. Fill in the different areas of the yacht with appropriate vocabulary. 5. Remember to use different sizes and shapes of letters and different colours. Enjoy creating your calligram This yacht calligram was created a few years ago by a Year 3 pupil. She did not draw the yacht but created it out of yacht words. You could create your own. Choose your own shape or try one on wordart. com.

Friday 22 nd May Maths We have done lots of adding so lets try some subtraction, take aways. So 60 – 20 = 40 We are good at these but, what about 38 – 25 = Remember chips and peas? 47 - 24 = Underneath the 47 draw the chips and peas. = 10 Then cross out 2 tens (20) and 4 ones (4) How many of each are left? There are 2 tens left and there are 3 ones left so, the answer is 23. =1
