Good morning Unicorns! Here’s your work for today: rd Wednesday 3 June
Let’s start the day by being…
Maths answers from Monday:
Maths The Gruffalo isn’t as amazing at Maths as all of you in Unicorns Class! He needs your help to carry out another investigation…
You can write your answers in your exercise books. If you would like to try Gruffalo work, complete questions 1, 2 and 3. If you would like to try Horrid Henry work, complete questions 1, 2, 3 and 4 If you would like to try James and the Giant Peach work, complete questions 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
I’d like you to create your own Paper Owl
Outdoor Activity Another way that the mouse could have outwitted the animals that wanted to eat him is by giving them false directions! Have a go at the science investigation on the next slide where you reverse arrows…
Reversing Arrows You will need: A glass Paper Pen Water 1. 2. 3. Draw an arrow on a piece of paper and prop it up. Look carefully at the direction in which the arrow is pointing. Put an empty glass in front of the arrow. Fill the glass with water and watch what happens to the direction of the arrow!
What’s the science behind it? This is called refraction. Refraction is the bending of light. During this experiment, light travelled from the image, through the air, into the glass and water, then out of the glass and into the air once more before it reached our eyes. This means that the light bends once when it travelled out of the glass into the water and then it bends again when it travelled out of the glass and into the air. The light paths cross and the image appears to be flipped from left to right. You could try to answer these questions: • Does this change if you use a different shaped glass? • Can you write messages backwards so that they will reveal when you fill the glass?
