FIRST CAPITAL ENGINEERING MULTIWAY STOP WARRANT ANALYSIS Kingston Road & Cortleigh Drive • Meets the FHWA’s Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) warrants for a multiway stop controlled intersection. Warrants based primarily on Volume and Accident rates. • Accidents: There is a high percentage of right angle collisions at the intersection that can be reduced with a multiway stop intersection. 16 accidents since 2005. *MUTCD: Crashes that are “susceptible to correction by a multiway stop installation” include right and left turn collisions and right angle collisions. • Pedestrians: The intersection is a designated crossing area for school students. Crosswalks marked in all four directions. Photo: Intersection of Cortleigh Drive and Kingston Road Multiway stop signs do not control speed 1 Traffic Calming Measure must be implemented to control speeding issues on Kingston Road and Cortleigh Drive and help prevent accidents. 1 Bretherton, Martin, Jr. , Multiway Stops: The Research Shows the MUTCD is Correct!, ITE Traffic Documents. www. ite. org 48 S.
