CREATION TO CHRIST GOD’S UNFOLDING PLAN OF REDEMPTION

JESUS and the WOMAN at the WELL

KEY POINT #1 Jesus has the POWER to overturn and redefine every fundamental part of you.

Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. 17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: 18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. John 4: 16 -18

The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. John 4: 19 -21

Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. ) 24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth. John 4: 22 -24

The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am [he]. John 4: 25 -26

DECONSTRUCT TO RECONSTRUCT Jesus was tearing down her false sense of worship and her sin of unfaithfulness. So that he could bring her to a place where she is seeing her real true need. To know Him and be known by Him.

KEY POINT #2 Christ’s goal is to get to our real heart condition. He knows what we need before we do. He knew that she (and all of us for that matter) was looking for a perfect relationship.

THE WORLD IS LOOKING… They are looking for One who knows everything about them. The Samaritan woman had been looking for this her whole life. Someone who understood her, cared for her and truly felt her needs through and through.

And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman… 28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? John 4: 27 -30

SHE LEFT THE WEIGHT AT THE WELL She left her waterpot. The very burden that kept her coming back daily. The very thing she put her trust in was now left at the well. She didn’t need it anymore.

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. 40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. John 4: 39 -40

HER PAST WAS GONE The woman, who had been married 5 times and was currently in an adulterous relationship no longer cared for any of that. She had met the Messiah.

KEY POINT #3 Should we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid, but likewise, should we bury the talent that God gave us, because we fear His righteous ways? In both ways, you prove to be unprofitable for the Kingdom.

And many more believed because of his own word; 42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard [him] ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world. John 4: 41 -42

CHRIST STAYED FOR TWO DAYS One day with the Lord is as a 1, 000 years. There are 2, 000 years of the church age. The Jews had no dealings with the Samaritans but yet Christ was compelled to spend time with this Gentile people.

And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: 13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. Luke 17: 11 -13

And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. Luke 17: 14 -16

And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? 18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. 19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole. Luke 17: 17 -19

BLINDNESS IN PART… The Samaritan was the only one who gave God the praise. The Jews couldn’t consider what God had given them while Christ was present. And thus the gospel was given to the Gentiles.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3: 28

Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Colossians 3: 11

THE WOMAN She came to the well twice. Once as a lost person, the next time as a witness. And in doing so, she broke cultural boundaries. She came back to the well in the open, with nothing more to hide.
