First photo Second photo. EXTREME CLOSE UP This shot is used to show the physical features of a person/object. I chose this shot to show the emotion and depth in the models eyes. The first photo is better then the second photo because the lighting is better and the audience can really see the eyes of the model whereas if I had used the second photo the audience wouldn’t have been able to see the depth in the models eyes and the picture would look darker and give the impression to the audience that the shot was meant to look scary, aggressive and dark instead of light.

BIG CLOSE UP The big close up is used to show the detail and

BIG CLOSE UP The big close up is used to show the detail and emotion in a persons face. It generally has little or no background because the main focus is the face. The second photo shows more clearly how a big close up is supposed to communicate emotion to the audience. https: //sophiesmediatheory. files. wordpress. com/2013/02/prager-alexdespair-film-still-1 -close-up. jpg 12/10/15 @13. 54

CLOSE UP A close up is a shot taken from the top of the head to the chin. The shot has very little background as it is all about the emotion and detail in the face.

MEDIUM CLOSE UP Medium close up shows from the top of the head to the chest. This shot is good for when the person is having a conversation because it shows the characters face at a reasonable distance.

MEDIUM SHOT This shot shows half the body (to around the waist area). I could have zoomed out a bit more to get a better medium shot. This shot allows the audience to be able to see the character speaking and also the body language.

MEDIUM LONG SHOT A medium long shot shows background and some of the person.

MEDIUM LONG SHOT A medium long shot shows background and some of the person. To improve the picture I took I could have showed more of the models body as well as the background.

LONG SHOT A long shot shows the full body, from head to toe, there

LONG SHOT A long shot shows the full body, from head to toe, there is generally supposed to be more background in the photo then I have which is what I would improve on and also I would try to include the feet to get a better long shot.

My photo Example VERY LONG SHOT A very long shot is more about the background then the character. It is used to see the surroundings of the person to give the audience a feel of where that person is. In the film industry this shot could be used to make the audience understand how lonely the character is or how vulnerable they are. To improve I would add more background then I have in this photo because the audience cannot tell where the model is in the photo. A very long shot is supposed to show the scenery the person is surrounded by and the second photo does this more clearly as the audience has a better idea of where the character is. http: //1. bp. blogspot. com/_ik. The second photo is a photo from the franchise ‘Harry Potter’. I used this photo because you can see the emotion in both characters facial expression and their body language clearly and this is what I wanted my photo to be like. To be able to see the emotion on their faces. TWO SHOT A two shot is used to show two characters in the frame and mostly focuses on the emotion they both have. I like the photo I took because of the way the background sets a nice setting for the photo and gives the audience insight to what time of day it is, what the weather is like and that it is autumn. https: //bigother. files. wordpress. com/2009/12/harry-potter. jpg 12/10/15 @14. 03

It is most likely used in dramas such as East. Enders when they want a restricted narrative and don’t want the audience to know who the subject is talking to. This photo from East. Enders shows two people having a conversation, from the facial expression the audience can tell that its not a very friendly discussion or that its getting heated and you can only see one of their facial expressions.

INTERVIEWEE This shot is used in interviews to show the interviewer talking to someone

INTERVIEWEE This shot is used in interviews to show the interviewer talking to someone but to still be able to see them. To improve I should have angled the camera better to get both eyes of the model as this is how the camera is normally shot.

First photo Second photo. MOVEMENT Movement photos are used to create a sense of continuity to the audience. To create a better movement shot I should have gotten the models feet in to communicate better that the model is walking. The second photo is the photo I first took but in this photo it’s a better image in the way that you can see the models feet but the lighting of the photo is better in the first photo because it looks brighter and although in the first photo you cant see the feet the body language suggests better to the audience that the model is moving.

LOW ANGLE SHOT This photo is used to make the subject seem powerful, like

LOW ANGLE SHOT This photo is used to make the subject seem powerful, like there above the audience. I tried to create this but to make it better I could have got down lower or zoomed out further to really make it seem like the model is above me instead of almost eye level.

HIGH ANGLE SHOT The high angle photo is used to make the person seem

HIGH ANGLE SHOT The high angle photo is used to make the person seem vulnerable and lonely and maybe even powerless. It communicates that to the audience because the audience is looking down on the person.

TILTED FRAME This type of shot is used to create a sense of uneasiness

TILTED FRAME This type of shot is used to create a sense of uneasiness within in the audience. I think to create a better shot I could have used examples in the film industry where the camera is almost tilted and close to the ground to make It seem like the subject is being attacked or is running away and has dropped something such as a camera.

When doing this task we had to use the camera provided for us by the college which meant we had to look after the equipment being used. We did this by: Walking not running with the camera SAFETY RULES Making sure we were holding the camera securely and carefully Using the camera strap to hold the camera around our necks whilst also holding the actual camera to protect it from dropping To add more safety precautions we could have: Carry the camera around in the bag it came out of in order to protect the camera.
