High angle The shot is taken when the camera is above and looking down at the scene. The effect of this camera angle is that it makes Boo look small, vulnerable and lacking in power. It also emphasises how upset Boo is. A sense of irony is established, for the monsters are terrified of her, yet she is depicted as such a small girl.

1. 08. 42 sec Low angle This shot is taken when the camera is below or looking up at the figure. The effect of this camera angle is that it makes Randall look powerful and large suggesting his dominance. This is clearly the case in the scene as Randall is in control of Sulley’s life.

26. 55 sec Bird’s eye This shot is achieved when the camera is directly above or overhead the scene. The effect of this angle is that it provides the viewer with a wide view of the street scene. This allows the viewer to see the chaos that has resulted from Boo’s presence in the monster city. This angle also shows the helicopters involvement in the scene which highlights the seriousness of the situation.

6. 27 sec Eye level This shot occurs when the camera is level with the object or figure. This scene creates a “real life” effect for the viewer and allows the viewer to feel like they are actually in Sulley and Mike’s living room watching TV.

1. 11. 45 sec Canted angle This shot is achieved when the camera is positioned on an oblique or crooked angle. The effect of this shot is that it allows the audience to understand that something shocking and peculiar is happening, the boss is chasing a helpless young girl. It also makes the audience feel rather uncomfortable that waternoose is attempting to kill a child.
