What is Science Olympiad (SCIOLY)? ● Science themed competitions between schools ● Grades K- 12 ● Regional, State, and National Competition ● Increasing interest in science by creating a technologically literate workforce and providing recognition for outstanding achievement by both students and teachers.

Testing ● Handouts available online to help you familiarize yourself with what we are going to test. ● Tests will be given in a mini competition style. ● Come prepared about your event. ● Ask questions. ● Go to google classroom for powerpoints with information about the events. Competitions ● LA county Regionals- February 17 at Antelope Valley College or March 3, 2018 at Rio Hondo ● Southern CA state- April 2018 at Caltech University ●Nationals- May 18 -19, 2018 at Colorado State University - Fort Collins, Colorado Team members MUST BE AVAILABLE these days

What Does This Mean For South Pointe Students? ● Take a look at the events and fill out an application – due Friday, Sept. 7 ● DO NOT TURN IN FEES ONLY APPLICATION ONLINE ● We will meet Thursdays and some Tuesdays and Saturdays ● We will have continue to test to determine the competing team ● We will choose two teams of at least 15 members
