West Memphis Terminal Procedures RD-301 -WM Dye Addition to a Tank or Barge 08/30/2007 Prepare Start Check Levels Check/ Record Levels Note Lineup & Start Stop Additive Example: The amount of Red Dye that is required in a diesel that is sold on a non-taxable basis is 11. 1 vol. ppm. –The Lowest Acceptable Concentration (LAC) 0. 0544 gallons of Red Dye for every 1000 gallons of diesel. –Our “target” for Red Dye Addition is approximately 10% higher or. 06 gallons of Red Dye for every 1000 gallons of diesel. If 5, 000 bbls is being dyed: –Convert the bbls to Gallons = 5, 000 bbls X 42 gal/bbl = 210, 000 gal –The amount of Red Dye that will be required (LAC) is: • 0. 0544 X 210 = 11. 424 gallons of Red Dye Required for 210, 000 gallons of diesel. (5000 bbls) –Our Target would be: • 0. 0600 X 210 = 12. 60 gallons of Red Dye Targeted for 210, 000 gallons of diesel. (5000 bbls) Note: If there is already some Red Dye in the diesel, the amount must be determined before the amount to be added can be calculated. A sample of the diesel should be brought to the Terminal Office and an analysis made on the diesel. The amount of Red Dye to be added to the diesel would be a ratio of the difference of what is actually measured in the diesel product and the required regulatory amount.
