let’s pray and prepare! Like many other churches around the world, we are prayerfully

let’s pray and prepare! Like many other churches around the world, we are prayerfully preparing for the possibility of a coronavirus pandemic and limitations on our ability to gather in large groups. 1. We believe that "we have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1: 7) and God is not only our Protector (Psalm 68: 5) and Provider (Matthew 5: 43 -45), but also our Healer (Luke 7: 18 -23). 2. We will prepare and respond with love, wisdom and compassion, helping to ensure that our volunteers are well, and that those who enter our gatherings will "love one another as Christ has loved us" with wise and practical attitudes and behaviors such as hand-washing, social distancing, and remaining home should we display flu-like symptoms. 3. We will exercise faith, compassion and anonymity in the way we handle prayer requests. 4. In the unlikely event that we are advised to temporarily stop meeting on Sunday mornings, we will provide online resources for Mini. Churches and informal small gatherings of family and/or friends. For more information on how to prepare, please visit: https: //www. cdc. gov/ and https: //health. hawaii. gov/news/covid-19 -updates/ for the latest updates and information.

Bless The LORD, O My Soul 20 Bless the Lord, O you his angels,

Bless The LORD, O My Soul 20 Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! 21 Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will! 22 Bless the Lord, all his works, in all places of his dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul! (Psalm 103: 20 -22, ESV)

Bless The LORD, O My Soul Introduction Have you ever considered what the Scriptures

Bless The LORD, O My Soul Introduction Have you ever considered what the Scriptures say about how the LORD sings over His people? 17 The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love; He will exult over you with loud singing. (Zephaniah 3: 17, ESV) Have you ever considered that your worship and obedience might be a source of encouragement and blessing to the rest of God’s creation, including the angels? Those are some of the reasons why David tells himself to worship the LORD, not just because of God’s steadfast love and faithfulness to him and his house, but for the expression of God’s power, love and faithfulness to all of His creation!

1. Developing a posture of worship. (Psalm 103: 1 -5) 1 Bless the Lord,

1. Developing a posture of worship. (Psalm 103: 1 -5) 1 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, 3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, 5 who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. a) “Our Father, hallowed be Your name!” b) Developing a posture of worship and reverence towards God.

2. Worshiping our Creator, Savior and Helper. (Psalm 103: 6 -10) 6 The Lord

2. Worshiping our Creator, Savior and Helper. (Psalm 103: 6 -10) 6 The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. 7 He made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of Israel. 8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. 9 He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. 10 He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. a) Reminding one another of God’s past glory and goodness is a helpful way to begin rejoicing. b) How should we steward our intellect, emotion and will to worship God?

2. Worshiping our Creator, Savior and Helper. (Psalm 103: 11 -16) 11 For as

2. Worshiping our Creator, Savior and Helper. (Psalm 103: 11 -16) 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. 13 As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. 14 For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust. 15 As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field; 16 for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more. a) Reminding one another of God’s past glory and goodness is a helpful way to begin rejoicing. b) How should we steward our intellect, emotion and will to worship God?

19 The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules

19 The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all. 20 Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! 21 Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will! 22 Bless the Lord, all his works, in all places of his dominion. (Psalm 103: 19 -22, ESV)

3. What’s your response to this steadfast love of the LORD? (Psalm 103: 17

3. What’s your response to this steadfast love of the LORD? (Psalm 103: 17 -22) 17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children, 18 to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments. Bless the Lord, O my soul! a) What vv. 17 -19 really mean and why David reminds himself of God’s glory as he worships. b) Seeing yourself as a member of “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s possession and praise” (1 Peter 2: 1 -10).

Conclusion The notion of having to remind, perhaps even reprimand one’s own soul for not worshiping God, is an interesting thought to me. Just as interesting as Pete Greig’s thoughts about how God might actually be even more pleased when we begin to praise Him when we do not feel like it… …and how such a posture of leaning towards awe, reverence and the worship of God allows us to join the chorus of creation in giving praise and thanks to the God of heaven and earth!
