Welcome Parent Orientation 2020 -2021 • Welcome to Kindergarten! • While this year will look quite different, we are looking forward to a special year in kindergarten and getting to know your child! • This is a path we will maneuver together. We ask for your patience while we work as a team to navigate plans and work out the bumps that may arise. 1

Housekeeping • Students must wear a mask to each day in the school building.

Housekeeping • Students must wear a mask to each day in the school building. • Please keep a change of clothing and a spare mask in a labeled ziplock bag inside your child’s backpack. • Immunization forms must be turned in before starting phase-in day. Medication can only be administered by our school nurse & paperwork must be completed and on file before children can be given medication. Physical forms must be submitted by Sept 16 th. • The Barfield handbook is at the front of the agenda which you will receive tomorrow at the “Meet the Teacher” time; 8: 00 -9: 00 for In-Person Learners; 2: 00 -3: 00 for Distance Learners or In-Person Learners. Please read it to know our school policies. This agenda will be a main form of our communication. Please complete the first page and initial/sign page 21 in the agenda. • Money-LABELED envelope/ziplock (name, amount and purpose) & ALWAYS send in agenda clip. Be sure lunch $ is sent on phase-in day if needed. • Snack—Please send a healthy individual 2 snack daily in backpack.

Please sign agenda each day and send to school each day. Daily behavior will be here. • Check emails daily. If contact info ever changes, be sure to contact me so I can update your child’s info. • You can also message me in Seesaw! We will use this app to share student work and for distance learning. • Conferences in fall & spring or by request • Report cards every 9 weeks/Progress reports in between • Class Webpage is toolbox for parents. 4

Codes are located in the front of the agenda on page 10. • Kindergartners will have two weeks to practice procedures & learn rules before receiving behavior marks that are logged and recorded in class log. • See daily agenda for day’s behavior. • Please encourage your child to do his /her best daily. • Important to read handbook located at front of agenda. 5

Tardies/Absences • Tardy-arrival after 7: 30 • Send an email or parent/dr. note after each absence with child’s name, date, and reason for absence. • County policy-fever free for 24 hours without the aid of medications. • Students must be at school until 11: 31 to be considered present for a full day. • Travel is not excused unless due to an emergency event such as a funeral. 7

Arrival • • • Students may enter the classroom between 7: 15 -7: 30 a. m. Students dropped off prior to 7: 15 will need to be dropped off in front of the gym and will wait in the gym until dismissed to class. Schoolside Street side entrance will be open from 7: 15 -7: 29 am and open to students only. Students arriving 7: 30 or later will need to sign in at the office for a tardy stamp in the agenda. Parents may not walk children to the classroom at this time, but may bring students to teacher’s back door for the phase-in day only, between 7: 45 -8: 00. First full day students will be escorted to class by educational assistants at the regular start time, 7: 15 -7: 30. 9

Phase-In • Your child will come in with 1/2 of the class, for one full day either August 17 th or 18 th. Virtual learners will not need to attend Phase-In. • You may walk your child to the back door of his/her classroom on his/her assigned Phase-In Day between 7: 45 -8: 00 a. m. This is the only day you may park and walk your child to the door. • August 19 th is a full day with the whole class. Drop your child off through the car line at the Schoolside Street side entrance, which is the kindergarten hall. An educational assistant will help them to class. • Remember to bring school supplies labeled with name, including backpack, lunch in throw away sack OR lunch money. ALWAYS send any money in agenda notebook. • Be sure your teacher knows how your child will be dismissed on the Phase-In day. 10

Dismissal • All car riders will be required to have a pick-up tag in their vehicle. You will have to park, show ID, and sign your child out without it. • I will send additional tags home with your child if needed. • Kindergartners are dismissed with 1 st-2 nd graders from the Schoolside Street side entrance. These are the GREEN car riders. • Kindergartners with a sibling in 3 rd-5 th grades are dismissed from the front of the gym with their older sibling. These are the PURPLE car riders. • Kindergarten students are required to have dismissal tags on backpacks at all times & will be given on first phase-in day. • No one is allowed out of the vehicle to remove children from sidewalk during dismissal. You may not walk up. This safety issue is strictly enforced. • Our School Resource Officer (SRO) will assist with arrival and dismissal daily. 11
