2009 Mathematics Standards of Learning The Goals n Focus on the mathematical knowledge and skills n Provide a framework for instructional programs n Set reasonable targets and expectations Teachers are encouraged to go beyond the standards and select instructional strategies and assessment methods appropriate for their students.
