The Team Police Officers – Andy Coles, Becky Dalby, Amjid Majid and Gary Godden Andy Coles Works jointly with Probation Offender Managers to proactively engage with individuals in custody and the community to secure compliance and reduce offending and risk Becky Dalby Works jointly with YOT Case Managers to provide support and engagement to young people to develop positive relationships and secure compliance and reduce offending. Amjid Majid Works with adults (who not open cases to Probation) to provide positive engagement and diversionary opportunities - – provides support to key Third Sector providers and EGYV funded projects Gary Godden Works predominately with adults (and young people as appropriate) who are not open cases to Probation or YOT to provide positive engagement and diversionary opportunities – provides support to key Third Sector providers and EGYV funded projects

The Team – Police Community Support Officers Gaynor Mann, Trevor Parkinson, Millie Edwards-Cleaves and Kelly Thomas The PCSOs deliver awareness raising sessions to year 6 pupils (ages 10/11) across the city primary schools looking at the issues of guns, gangs and knives. The provide a link to the local Neighbourhood Policing Teams and Family Community Teams and make home visits to pupils who have raised issues or concerns in the schools sessions. When not delivering sessions in schools during term time the PCSOs link with the Neighbourhood Policing Teams for their locality and undertake patrols in areas associated with gang type activities

EGYV Locality Hub Meetings Purpose: To proactively review the risk posed by those individuals

EGYV Locality Hub Meetings Purpose: To proactively review the risk posed by those individuals involved in gang related activity and violence related offending and to have oversight to reduce the risks they present to the community. To provide support through appropriate interventions to reduce the risk that identified individuals pose (where not subject to statutory court orders) To provide preventative and diversionary intervention for those individuals most at risk of involvement in gang related activity and offending. To provide appropriate support to victims of gang related activity, specifically knife, gun crime or gang related serious violence. To prevent the trends developing further. To provide an overview of the impact of gang and violence related offending on the community. To provide an overview of current tensions in relation to gang and violence related activity in the community.

Successes… • Supported a number of individuals to move away from the area with an appropriate support package • Supported a number of individuals into full time employment • Secured the compliance of key individuals identified as suspects and/or offenders in relation to serious offences • What sort of things have we paid for…. beds, emergency accommodation, emergency food, diversionary activities, work wear, identification etc

Emerging issues • Significant number of adults and young people suffering from differing levels

Emerging issues • Significant number of adults and young people suffering from differing levels of PTSD • Significant number of adults and young people who have witnessed or experienced high levels of violence involving weapons • Significant number of individuals ‘selfmedicating’ with cannabis etc • Need for more responsive mental health support
