UCL INSTITUTE OF OPHTHALMOLOGY The Educational Process: 2 • Initial supervisory session: Assigned Graduate Tutor / supervisor – explain Appraisal & monitoring process • Reviews: 3, 6 & 12 months – Upgrade • Supervisor is responsible – YOU need to be aware • Online Research Log – mandatory component. Student and supervisors complete the log • Graduate School website: Handbooks - Courses • Regular Graduate tutor meetings / Fixed yearly appointments - PASTORAL CARE……. .

D Upgrade combined 12 -18 mths F/T – 18 -30 mths P/T Written Report & viva voce examination 2 examiners: Subsidiary & 1 academic advisor external to the project (can be Io. O) • Written Report: 20 -30 pages • Copy of online student log sections A & B • Step by Step Process including 2 nd & 3 rd year reviews: Document 4 & Appendix 3
