Flag Meaning § The red in Ghana's flag represents the blood shed in its fight for independence, the gold is for the mineral wealth of the country, the green is for the rich forests of Ghana, and the single black star is a symbol of Ghana being the first African nation to gain freedom.

Ghana is located on West Africa's Gulf of Guinea only a few degrees north of the Equator and is bordered on the north by Burkina Faso, on the west by Côte d’Ivoire, and on the east by Togo.
