When Louis Braille was just three years old, he was involved in an accident that left him blind. However, he never stopped learning and was eager to lead as normal of a life as possible and help others who were like him. As a teenager, Louis created a raised set of dots that blind people could use to read. In 1829, Louis published the first book using his system of raised dots, which is called the Braille system. This system is still widely used today in schools and universities around the world. Louis Braille opened a world of possibilities for blind learners and has revolutionized how education is adapted for those who are visually-impaired.
