Abstract In the modern world, usage of mobile applications is growing trend than using web applications. During the initial stages, consumer applications and games were the most frequently used mobile applications. Later all enterprise applications started their mobile versions as people prefer using their mobiles than launching an Internet Explorer or chrome for accessing the web application. The challenge with the mobile application is that they don’t replicate the desktop environment in terms of speed, CPU, memory and applications that are running in the background. In order to validate the performance of the mobile applications we have lot of tools available in the market like Perfecto, Load Runner, HPE Tru. Client, and Performance Center etc. There are different facts that needs to be considered for validating the performance of the mobile applications like: Mobile CPU, RAM Network Speed (Wifi, 4 G LTE, 3 G/2 G) OS version Background data processing Intermittent connection 2
Abstract The reports for validating the performance of the mobile application should be endto-end analysis which includes: Application Metrics Network Metrics Backend DB Metrics It is very time consuming and expensive, to gather such an intensive test analysis reports. To overcome this issue, a detailed and complete mobile application performance approach is used and it is called Touch to Glass Analysis report. Using this approach, time taken to generate the report is very less and the report provides the detailed analysis using the transaction logging. The advantages of using this approach is listed below: Less Time Consuming Re-usable for different transaction types One-time set up Cost effective In depth analysis report- End to End test analysis report. 3

A complete Analysis Report 1. 2. 3. 4. Mobile application transactions are simulated using Perfecto. Using Vugen, mobile load is generated using performance center. The metrics are stored temporarily in a DB for live metrics generation. Using Splunk dashboard, a detailed analysis report is generated using transaction logging. 5. This report comprises of mobile performance metrics, server metrics and DB metrics. 6. Using shundra, network related metrics are generated. It is also used to induce external traffic. 7. The time taken to generate the detailed analysis report is approximately two hours. 8. The splunk dashboard needs to be configured to retrieve the server metrics based on the transaction logging and it correlates the mobile application transactions with the server transactions. 9. This approach involves less manual effort and requires one time set up. 5
