Reflections on PCFIO’s Culture We support each other We stay true to who we are We doodle and make jokes. We get stuff done We are about empowering smart, strategic and knowledgeable public servants. We do what needs to be done because it needs to be done. We help our colleagues who need help because they need help. We are not about rigid job descriptions or silo’d org structures. We want everyone to speak up, whether it is to add relevant information, correct a misunderstanding, or to disagree. Three qualities/principles that help define what we are about: We are about efficiency and results, not process for process sake. We are problem solvers and preventers. We are not about hierarchy. We make time to eat lunch together. Many of us are weirdly pro unicorn. We will employ Stabby the unicorn to make you smile. We are all a little weird in our own special ways and no one cares. We are approachable. We are accepting. We make time and share information. We fight the fires that need fighting. We give heads up without being told to. We are committed to making the right decisions, which means having the right info and the right people at the table. We think ahead, we look at things from multiple angles, and we propose options to get stuff done the right way. We do not give up in the face of obstacles. We make this a fun place to spend time. We are straight with one another. We give people the benefit of the doubt when we know they are trying their best. We earn respect and responsibilities. We do what is right because it’s the right thing to do – even when it means helping someone find new opportunities. We are true colleagues. 5
