Alternative Process #1 Results for Week 1: Patients’ demographics got added back to census due to security complaining. Trial #1 considered a failure

Alternative Process #1 Results for Week 2: List of unwanted visitors passed from the patients to staff for security to use during visitation- a success However, demographics remained on census- failure

Alternative Process #2 Results for Week 1: Lockers were issued to visitors who brought in personal items Visitors locked up belongings without a problem Received all locker keys back

Alternative Process #2 Results for Week 2: Received compliments for utilizing lockers Visitors continued to lock up belonging and return keys Added sign to alert visitors to leave personal items in cars Outcome: a success

Alternative Process #2 Fewer visitors needed lockers Majority of visitors left everything in car Outcome: a definite success

Recommendations Review HIPAA Law to ensure all hospital staff comply with the rules Add metal detectors Increase security officers pay to reduce turnover rate Purchase additional lockers

Conclusion Alternative Process #1 had some improvements, but the overall purpose for the process was failure. Alternative Process #2 was a complete success In the future, Alternative Process #1 will be retested in the future but from a different approach.
