SQUARE • Moderately low-cut neckline or angular in front. • In the 60’s, dresses or blouses often featured square necklines.

SWEETHEART • Lowered front neckline shaped like the top of a heart. • “No one is exactly sure of the origins of the sweetheart neckline. There are those who claim the scalloped trip necklines of the Renaissance age in Italy were the first true sweetheart necklines. Others credit 18 th century French designers with creating the attractive contours of the design. A third school of thought places the first ones as appearing in the court of Isabella in 15 th century Spain. U-NECKLINE • Medium-low in the front, rounded and the same width as the base of the neck. • Earliest it’s been seen was in 14 th century Italy.
