SCADA System • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) – Automated control of facility processes – Remote access to plant processes for on-call response – Collects and stores historical data for regulatory reporting and process evaluation • Hardware includes: – Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) – Input and Output Devices (Equipment that connects field devices to the PLC) – Networking equipment 3 | emwd. org
Required Upgrades • Existing PLCs are discontinued and no longer available for purchase from the manufacturer. – Replacement parts are no longer available – New equipment is required to meet the latest programming and security standards • ‘Control. Logix’ family of PLCs and supporting equipment will be installed to bring the control system up-to-date. – Upgrades will ensure reliability of the control system and improve security of remote access operations – Cabinets will be organized and unused equipment will be removed – As-built drawings will be produced 4 | emwd. org
