Mission, Vision, and Goals Group 7 GILT 514 Summer 2015

Mission of Rising Star Academy The mission of Rising Star Academy is to innovate, inspire, and engage students at all levels of schooling by engaging them in project based learning and critical thinking activities that develop their academic, technological, physical, artistic, and social skills. We strive to cooperate with the student’s family, the surrounding community, and local businesses. This will foster growth and give our students the tools to become productive lifelong learners.

Vision Rising Stars Academy will create a culture of learning that will allow students to grow creatively through the use of traditional and technologically enhanced learning. All learning will be based on high academic standards in the pursuit of excellence and preparation in the area of 21 st Century skills.

Goals Goal 1: Facilitate learning and communication with the student and their guardians through the use of digital technologies.

Goals Goal 2: Improve student understanding of subject matter through the use of internet based applications and “flipped” classroom techniques.

Goals Goal 3: Create alternate methods of lecture for students with special needs using digital technologies, such as Nearpod, MP 3 podcasts, videos, and other digital applications.

Goals Goal 4: Technology will be used in instructional activities that take into account TPCK (Technological and Pedagogical Content Knowledge).

Goals Goal 5: Students will use a variety of technologies to show competencies in a variety of subject areas through project-based learning.
