Introduction • Mission San Jose was founded in Fray by Father Fermin Fransisco Lasuer O. F. M. It was used as a mission from 1797 -1832
Location • Mission San Jose was located near the city of San Jose
People of the Mission Father Fermin Lasuen founded Mission San Jose. He founded it on June 11, 1797 After the dedication, the soldiers quickly built shelters for themselves and the priests, and within 3 weeks, there were seven more buildings.
California Indians The Ohlone tribe was one of the main groups of indians to make its home in Alta California. Of course, the Ohlone lived there long before there was a San Francisco, the state of California or even a land called America.
Daily Life at Mission San Jose • Life at Mission San Jose, as at the other missions, varied little from day to day. The schedule was set by ringing the bells. Every mission had at least two bells. One bell rang when it was time to pray, the second bell rang, it was time for work mealtimes, and rest
Hardships Mission life provided each California Indian with food, shelter, and protection from traders and other settlers who, in their search for gold, had little regard for the life of Indians. Mission life was very different from the one Indians once knew.
Conclusion Mission San Jose is the fourteenth mission founded out of twenty-one missions. This was thirteen years after the death of Frey Serra. Mission San Jose was named after Saint Joseph.
