Overview • Ms. Reynolds 6 th& 7 th Grade Life Skills Room • 11 Students, all with different IEP’s and ability levels. • Lessons focused on Life skilled based literacy.

Lesson One • Need for students to be able to recognize a formal business

Lesson One • Need for students to be able to recognize a formal business letter • Each student received a copy of the business letter, and followed along by the transparency on the board • Students then were asked to name specific parts of the business letter. • Students were then given construction paper and cut out strips of the letter • All students, with some individuals being helped separately, then placed the strips in the correct order based on the example business letter.

Lesson Two • Students had to fill in the blanks of the letter template

Lesson Two • Students had to fill in the blanks of the letter template • Arrows were used as indicators to guide the students on what to write on the line • Students filled in the body paragraphs with how they wanted to improve as students • One-on-one instruction provided by paraprofessional • Assessment- accuracy of information written in letter

Lesson Three • Story Elements- characters/ character traits • Background knowledge- The Three Little

Lesson Three • Story Elements- characters/ character traits • Background knowledge- The Three Little Pigs • Read The True Story of the Three Little Pigs • Students will list and discuss similarities and differences in character traits of the three little pigs and the wolf in both stories • One-on-one instruction provided by paraprofessional • Text-to-Speech
