How does “gustar” work? “I like pizza. ” “Elena likes to swim. ” In

How does “gustar” work? “I like pizza. ” “Elena likes to swim. ” In English, the subject is the person doing the liking. “Me gusta la pizza. ” “A Elena le gusta nadar. ” In Spanish, the subject is the thing being liked. The Spanish actually translates to… “The pizza is pleasing to me. ” y “Swimming is pleasing to Elena. ” In other words… The SUBJECT is the noun/verb that DOES the pleasing. The person just receives the pleasure. That’s why you only conjugate gustar 2 ways in the present tense. What are they? GUSTAN Muy bien!!!!!
