CHALLENGES TO COMMUNICATION 1. If communication can fail, it will. 2. If a message can be understood in different ways, it will be understood in the way that does the most harm 3. There is always somebody who knows better than you and what you meant by your message 4. The more communication there is, the more difficult it is for communication to succeed

The message should be understood as the communicator intended it to be understood 2. The message should achieve the communicators intended effect 3. The message should be ethical An effective message is one that the receiver understands
ETHICAL COMMUNICATION Be sensitive to others’ Give people choices rather than force them to behave in certain ways Respect other’s privacy Don’t’ intentionally decrease others’ feelings of self-worth Be honest in presenting information As Leaders we must have an ethical perspective that is respectful to others!!!
