EDWARD PEIRSON RICHARDSON JR MD • • • (1918 -1998) From a long line of HMS scholars/faculty – Father & Paternal Grandfather Chiefs of MGH surgery – Mother: Clara Lee Shattuck; he was the 6 th Shattuck physician & Shattuck street is where HMS is located. Harvard 1939; HMS 1943 Served in WWII as a physician 1944‐ 46 MGH 1946 Res Pysch under Dr. Stanley Cobb 1947‐ Queens Square Neurology & Maudsley Hosp for Psychiatry @ Queen Square‐exposed to Dr. J. Goodwin Greenfield Neuropathology 1949 @ MGH Asst to Dr. Charles Kubik Neuropathology 1951‐Neuropathology lab director, till 1989 Worked with Adams, Miller Fisher, Castlemen, & Victor Continued to work until a few months before his death from lymphoma Bullard Professor of Neuropathology 1984

(Neurology and Path residents) • Frequent contributor to Pathology section of NE Journal of Medicine & CPCs • Led Neuropathology teaching sessions/brain cutting during Tuesday evening conferences Neurology. 1967; 17(8 Pt 2): 22‐ 5
