Different Curriculums • The requirements of the Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) curriculum set by the WA School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) are different to the national Australian Curriculum set by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).
• After December 2016 in Western Australia the curriculum for History will no longer be a separate subject but will be incorporated into the Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) curriculum. HASS HISTORY History Geography Civics & Citizenship Economics & Business

Mandated Depth Studies Year 7 – The Ancient World • Depth Study 1: Investigating the ancient past • Depth Study 2: Investigating one ancient society (Egypt, Greece, Rome, India, China)

Optional Additional Content • Other depth studies from the AC can be included in individual teacher’s programs after mandated content has been taught
Reporting Requirements from 2017 Humanities Schools will Schools may choose to report to and Social report one parents at a more detailed Sciences grade (A–E) level, for example, Civics and as a minimum Citizenship, Economics and Citizenship; for Business, Geography, Economics Humanities History. and Social Business; Sciences. Implementation Timeline • Full implementation of HASS , including teaching, assessing and reporting by schools will be in place with first reporting to parents by the end of Semester 1, 2017
