How Healthy Are You? Personal Inventory Physical health: 1. I eat a well-balanced diet. 2. I snack on healthful foods 3. I sleep eight or nine hours a night. 4. I exercise regularly. 5. I do not use tobacco, alcohol or drugs. 6. I am within 5 pounds of my ideal weight. 7. I am usually energetic and feel good.
How Healthy Are You? Personal Inventory Mental/Emotional Health: 1. I like to learn new subjects. 2. I can laugh easily. 3. I like to be alone sometimes. 4. I can name several things I do well. 5. I can tell others what I’m feeling. 6. I ask for help when I need it. 7. I take responsibility for my actions.
How Healthy Are You? Personal Inventory Social Health: 1. I meet people easily. 2. I have several close friends. 3. When I have a problem with someone, I try to work it out. 4. I work well in a group. 5. I can say no to my friends. 6. I do not talk behind people’s backs. 7. I get along with several different people.
* Health is a combination of physical, mental/emotional, and social well-being. * The word health comes from an Old English word meaning “to make sound, whole, or well. ” (same root as heal) * Being healthy means having a balanced health triangle.
What is Wellness? Keeping the three parts of the health triangle in balance is the best way to achieve wellness. To achieve and maintain a high level of wellness throughout your life: n Make wise decisions. n Practice healthful behaviors each day. Your health and wellness are related. Your level of wellness depends on how the three aspects of health interact over time.
VOCABULARY Health is a combination of physical, mental/emotional, and social well-being. Self-assessment is a careful examination and judgment of your own patterns of behavior. Wellness is a state of well-being, or balanced health.
