To ask how long something has been going on: ¿ Cuánto tiempo + hace que + present tense verb phrase?

So how would you say…? �EJ: How long have you been a member of the athletic club? �¿ Cuánto tiempo hace que (tú) eres miembro del club atlético?

So how would you say…? �EJ: How long have you all been practicing with the basketball team? �¿Cuánto tiempo hace que (ustedes) practican con el equipo de baloncesto?

To tell how long something has been going on: �Hace + period of time + que + present tense verb phrase.

So how would you say…? �EJ: I’ve been a member of the athletic club for two years. Hace dos años que (yo) soy miembro del club atlético.

So how would you say…? �EJ: We have been practicing with the basketball team for three weeks. Hace tres semanas que (nosotros) practicamos con el equipo de baloncesto.
