Review Question Words: • • Who – Qui What – Qu’est-ce que When – Quand Where – Où Why – Pourquoi How – Comment How much/many – Combien
3 ways to ask a yes or no question: 1. Raise your voice at the end. (This naturally happens) • • Ex: Normand est canadien? Normand is Canadian? 2. Use est-ce que in the beginning of the question. • • Ex: Est-ce que Normand est canadien? (Is it that) Normand is Canadian? 3. Use n’est-ce pas at the end of the question. • • • N’est-ce pas means “isn’t that so? ” Ex: Normand est canadien, n’est-ce pas? Normand is Canadian, isn’t that so?
Asking an Information Question • Questions that can’t be answered with yes or no are information questions. • Use your question words to ask information questions. • Put est-ce que after most question words!!!!! – Don’t use est-ce que after “qu’est-ce que”
