Southeast Asia (SEA) governments mull ecommerce tax o Governments in Southeast Asia are considering implementing a tax on online transactions, including: o o o Sales over social networking platforms Advertising on Facebook and Google Journeys booked and paid for via ride-hailing applications Individual sellers look set to be included under the new laws Enforcement of the new laws is expected to be difficult, particularly if retailers sell on multiple accounts on social media networks and online marketplaces o Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam are drafting legislative proposals o Thailand is conducting a public hearing on its proposed amendments.
