Ensuring all Wiltshire families thrive FACT is a partnership of agencies working together to achieve whole-system change – in order to significantly improve the chances of all our children living safely, healthily and happily in their own families and communities. Shared priorities for 2019 are: Ensuring the best start in life A good education for all Developing whole-life services Strengthening earliest support Core skills and a common approach
All FACT partners have signed up to the A-B-C model for call handling …resulting in: • less bounce for families • more “telling us once” • more brokered support • more professionals supported to do what’s needed
What is MASH? • MASH is the ‘front door’ of Children’s Social Care • MASH brings together a co-located team of professionals from children’s social care, the police, health and other partner agencies • MASH utilises agreed processes for analysing and assessing risk, based on the fullest information known about children across agencies, to determine if a child is in need or is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm • MASH provides information, advice and signposting to appropriate services

Professional Consultations • • • Professionals are encouraged to call the MASH on 0300 4560108 and ask to have a professional consultation for information and advice. Your call will be transferred to the Early Support Hub. These calls are anonymous and you will be given a reference number with details of the discussion recorded by MASH Professional consultations are an opportunity for professionals to discuss their concerns with a member of the MASH team. Advice may be around providing additional Early Support (CAF) for a family. These consultations can also provide professionals with signposting to our partner agencies as well as reviewing the current situation for a family. They may also include advice around completing an effective MASH referral. If it is deemed that the information given meets the threshold then you may be asked to make a referral to MASH, you can include the reference number on this referral. In some cases the information shared may be deemed as ‘RED’ and a referral can be taken over the phone at this point. If you believe that a child is at risk of harm then please do submit a MASH referral in the first instance.
