Course Description and Grading Policy • This course familiarizes students with the various genre of film, film techniques, and film history. Topics of discussion will include: • Cinematic language • Analysis and film critique • Evolution of film • Students grades will be based as follows: • • • A: 90 -100, B: 80 -89, C: 70 -79, D: 60 -69, F: 59 or below Tests are 30% of the grade Homework/Classwork 15% of the grade Class participation: 10% Projects are 25% Quizzes are 20%

Class and supplemental Materials • Students are expected to bring: • Pencil or pen

Class and supplemental Materials • Students are expected to bring: • Pencil or pen • Notebook • Previous class notes • Any supplemental material • $10 class fee • Students are to use the textbook Looking at Movies by Richard Barsam and Dave Monahan • Students are expected to turn in work on time and to make up missed work in a timely manner.

• Students are to come prepared and ready to learn • After 3 verbal warnings and a call home student will receive a detention for not improving or modifying his/her behavior. • Electronic devices are not allowed in class. (It will be confiscated and sent to the main office per school policy). Electronic devices will be turned off, placed in the student’s bookbag which is to be left at the front of the room during class. • Eating and Drinking are not allowed in my classroom unless a student has a valid medical reason that has been cleared by the office (i. e. a diabetic student). Bottled water is allowed. Student Expectations
