HOW DO YOU ADD DECIMALS USING A HUNDREDTHS CHART? HERE IS HOW TO ADD.

HOW DO YOU ADD DECIMALS USING A HUNDREDTHS CHART? HERE IS HOW TO ADD. 05+0. 23 Step 1: Shade 50 squares (5 columns of 10 squares) to show 0. 5 Step 2: Using a different color, shade an additional 23 squares (2 columns of 10 squares, plus 3 more) to show 0. 23 Step 3: Count all the shaded squares in your hundredths chart. How many hundredths are shaded? Write the decimal for the total number of hundredths squares shaded. Answer: 0. 5+0. 23=0. 73

HERE IS HOW TO ADD. 07+0. 44 Step 1: Shade 70 squares (7 columns

HERE IS HOW TO ADD. 07+0. 44 Step 1: Shade 70 squares (7 columns of 10 squares) to show 0. 7 Step 2: Using a different color, shade an additional 44 squares (4 columns of 10 squares, plus 4 more) to show 0. 44 Step 3: Count all the shaded squares in your hundredths chart. How many hundredths are shaded? Write the decimal for the total number of hundredths squares shaded. Answer: 0. 7+0. 44=1. 14

HERE IS HOW TO SUBTRACT 0. 86 -0. 23 Step 1: Shade 86 squares

HERE IS HOW TO SUBTRACT 0. 86 -0. 23 Step 1: Shade 86 squares (8 columns of 10 squares, plus 6 more) to show 0. 86 Step 2: Using a black crayon, cross out 23 squares from the shaded squares to show 0. 23 Step 3: Count the squares that are shaded in your hundredths chart, but not the ones that are crossed out. How many hundredths are shaded? Write the decimal for the total number of hundredths squares shaded. Answer: 0. 86 -0. 23=0. 63

Decimal to Percent A percent can be represented as a fraction and as a

Decimal to Percent A percent can be represented as a fraction and as a decimal number. We can convert a percent to a decimal number and we can write a decimal number as a percent. Half of the grid is shaded. We can say that 50% of the grid is shaded. We know 1/ 2 = 0. 5, and 0. 5 =50% We can convert a decimal number to a percent by multiplying the decimal number by 100, and placing the percent symbol with the number. When we multiply a decimal number by 100, we are shifting the decimal point two places towards right. We can represent a decimal number as a percent by shifting the decimal point two places towards right and place the percent symbol, %, with the number.
