College Planning Timeline October: Attend the Columbus Suburban College Fair at Westerville Central High School October 13 th from 1: 00 to 3: 30. Financial Aid sessions at 2: 00 and 3: 00 ● Take the PSAT on Oct. 16, 7: 30 -10: 30 AM ● November: • Sign up for ACT with writing and/or SAT to take in early spring • ACT will be given to all Juniors on February 26, 2020 December: • Keep grades strong • Attend the College Credit Plus District Meeting if you have ANY possible interest in the program
College Planning Timeline January: • Program Planning for Senior Year • Use PSAT results and Khan Academy to prepare for the SAT February: • Visit prospective colleges throughout the winter/spring • ACT given to all Juniors on February 26, 2020 March: • Register to take the ACT, SAT, and maybe SAT subject tests • Visit prospective colleges during spring break
College Planning Timeline April: • Prepare for AP Tests May/June: • AP Testing • Take ACT and/or SAT • Ask teachers for letters of recommendation for fall applications July/August: • Summer jobs, volunteer experiences • Potential college athletes register online for NCAA eligibility
Postsecondary Planning Decision-Making ✓Initiate a discussion with your parents about the college search and selection process. This process is best viewed as a team effort, which should include you, your parents, and your school counselor. ✓If you are interested in one of the military academies, talk to your counselor about starting the application process. ✓Continue to challenge yourself in the classroom. Remember when you apply to colleges next fall you will be submitting a 6 th semester transcript.
