Show & Tell Gerald Davis started off this session with several pieces that he turned at the request of his wife. Those being “ring” holders. He made several using different woods and some were embellished by using a “Rose Engine Lathe”. He went on to show a photo of a recent purchase he made in Arizona. It was a Home made but much more than just home made it is a complete unit of which he says, “I’m still finding more ways of using it. ” It is hoped that some day our two “Rose Engine” enthusiasts will offer a few hours of shop demonstration.

Show & Tell Continues Mike Rude who graciously took on the task of fabricating a new intro to the Salt & Pepper mill lines. This item was sent to CCW by a company in Texas with hopes of enticing us with their 2 in one mill. Mikes reaction was on a negative side. He stated that there is too much work with several sizes of holes to be drilled, and not including for the salt shaker. Lastly, the price per unit is about $27. 00. Not at all feasible.

Dan Ross has resurrected a piece from the Forgotten Woods era to turn a huge bowl. He did note that he was thankful to another turner for the use of his lathe because his own would not support the turning diameter. Dan also presented a vase that was turned from a piece of Maple given to him by a neighbor. Dan went on to describe the finishing products he used to complete the project

The Walnut mill on the right of the photo shows that accurate cutting is a must to insure the lines are in line, If you can recall last months entry he again showed his ability in using a table saw to its best. Pictured at left is a Pepper mill created by Gordon Rowland using a Maple and Fish Paper highlight. This is a big change in the Multi woods concept
