ALEKS: An Introduction You can work on the ALEKS program anytime and anywhere from any device with internet access. You are given an individualized instructional plan based on your diagnostic exam. You will be prompted to take the diagnostic exam immediately upon signing into the program before continuing any further work on ALEKS. You were sent an e-mail with your username and password from Ms. Perez. You were encouraged to sign into your ALEKS account, take the diagnostic exam, and begin working on the ALEKS program. IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE THIS E-MAIL, NOTIFY YOUR TEACHER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER BEFORE DOING SO.

ALEKS: An Introduction Continued ALEKS will automatically teach you how to use the program. When you log in and take the diagnostic exam, you will get a pie chart representing what you know and what you need to learn to be successful in your class. Click on “Continue My Path” to learn new topics. While in “Continue My Path, ” choose any topic you’d like to learn from the dropdown menu (the small arrow on the top left of the screen). ALEKS includes succinct instructional videos and lessons, practice problems with explanations, and Knowledge Checks. You will be required to spend at least 2 hours per week using the ALEKS program. Time on ALEKS is part of your homework grade (each hour is worth 1 homework assignment).

Knowledge Checks: Depending on how much time you have spent on ALEKS and how many topics you have learned, you will be intermittently interrupted by ALEKS to take a Knowledge Checks are occasional assessments that measure your mastery of specific topics you have covered so far. Results will be displayed on your individual pie chart. Knowledge Checks should only take about 20 – 45 minutes. It should NOT take the entire 2 hours of your time on ALEKS to complete a single Knowledge Check. Work on ALEKS is based on completion, so challenge yourself. Spend time on things that will help you either catch up on topics you feel you need help with, or spend time challenging yourself more and get ahead! Please also keep in mind that your teacher can monitor your progress and see exactly what you were working on, so use your time on ALEKS properly and wisely.

Monitor Your Own Progress: Click on the menu (the three bars on the top left corner of the screen), and then select Reports.
